Do you know your skin type

Updated: Dec 5, 2021

Sensitive skin

If you have sensitive skin you'll notice your skin is prone to irritation. You might find it hard to locate the correct product for you. Your skin will appear slightly red around your nose and cheeks and sometimes with visible blood vessels. This causes water loss and attracts irritants into the skin.

Normal skin

If you have normal skin, you wont notice it as much because it isn't bothering you. There are no dry or oily patches in sight. Your skin doesn't react to any products as your skins barrier is protected, healthy and firm. Your skin is well balanced with a smooth texture.

Dehydrated skin

If you have dehydrated skin, you'll notice its low in oil and lacking in water content. Your skin will appear dull and tight. Dehydration can be mistaken for premature wrinkling and dry skin. Dehydration is usually associated with your diet and lifestyle. It can also be caused by the environment and weather changes. All skin types can become dehydrated.

Combination skin

Combination skin is a mixture of two skin types. Many people have combination skin. Generally you would notice your t-zone (center of your face) is oily and prone to blemishes while your cheeks remain dry.

Oily skin

When you appear to have oily skin. Your skin is over producing sebum causing enlarged pores, spots and blackheads. This can be caused by hormonal changes and imbalances. It can also be caused by your genetics, medications and stress.

Dry skin

Dry skin is lacking in ceramides. The skins barrier has been disrupted causing it to become dry and flaky. This type of skin is lacking in the production of oil and finds it hard to trap in moisture. Take a look at my blog post all about ceramides and Niacinamide to help.

Mature skin

As we get older our skin starts to degenerate which leads to fine lines wrinkles. This decrease of collagen production causes the elasticity to decrease as well, leaving our skin dry and thin. As a result of sun damage, age spots can also begin to appear.

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post. I hope it helps.
